This past weekend we explored some hikes in the Adirondacks that were family friendly and wow, what a time we had! We had perfect weather for hiking and enjoying the scenery. Brie and I went walking up to a waterfall at Cascade Lakes day use area and had a fabulous picnic lunch while taking in the majestic views. Then we practiced throwing rocks into the river. Always a winning pastime!
We enjoyed the flat Jackrabbit trail located near Keene, NY. A perfect hiking trail for a relatively new walking toddler.
Owl's Head mountain had wonderful long distance views. At 1.2 miles roundtrip, it was a perfect evening walk to take in the scenery especially with the lovely light.
Baxter Mountain was a couple mile round trip hike to the summit and Gabriella wanted to walk from the start. She hiked about a half mile on her own and then Mat carried her the rest of the way. This is a lovely family walk. Pretty mellow at the beginning and at the very end some mild scrambling on some rocks. It was very rewarding with long distance views of the High Peaks and looking down at Keene Valley.
