Gas prices on the rise, stay-cations here we come!
A few years ago, we saw the rise in gas prices and an increase of families choosing to do stay-cations or at least vacations closer to home. Do you remember that? I do. Surprising, it turned out to be not as terrible as imagined. Using some creativity, we were still able to go camping and hiking, but just closer to home.
According to CNNMoney's article, gas prices are on the rise again. Does this even affect your decision making in where to take your family on vacation?
Here in northern New York, we finding that we are lucky to live where wonderful vacationing opportunities abound, such as heading to the Thousand Islands region, the Adirondacks, and the Finger Lakes. And all within a few hours. As a recent transplant to New York, I've been incredibly impressed with all the many state parks that New York has to offer and can't wait for summer to get out exploring in them again.
What is your favorite vacation spot with kids in central and northern New York?
Below I've listed some of our favorite hiking trails (so far) and some of the state parks have campgrounds:
Treman State Park near Ithaca, NY
Bald Mountain near Old Forge, NY
Wellesley Island State Park near the New York and Canadian border
